I started
skydiving when I was 37. I literally fell into the sport after
meeting an instructor in a pub. I started on a static line
course (RAPS), but after 2 jumps decided to complete an Accelerated
Freefall course (AFF).
My first year in the sport meant a lot of time on the ground
where I got to learn a lot about the sport and this is where
my addiction for the skydiving started. Having completed 60
jumps in the first year I bought my own parachute and
then the jumping started in earnest. I completed 200 jumps
in my second year travelling a lot to meet with people I
had met at different dropzones in the UK. In the last two
years I have traveled to 18 different countries on skydive
boogies and completed over a 1000 skydives.
Skydiving for me is much more than a sport, it is a passion.
It has given me the opportunity for extensive travel, on my
own and with groups and has allowed me to jump in some exotic
locations such as Ecuador, Thailand, Kenya and Uruguay to
name only a few.
My additional buzz in the sport is as a camera/videographer
filming and taking photographs whilst in freefall, from 1st
time jumpers doing Tandem through to large formation skydivers
and freeflyers. Skydiving is a fantastic way of meeting some
very nice people who become great friends. |
